After the briefing, Gov. Martinez said that New Mexico has received a Grant from FEMA to help with the costs. The amount of the grant will depend on costs.
She explained that the New Mexico National Guard is in the area to support local agencies.
New Mexico Human Health Services has been notified to assist where needed and all departments at the State level have been mobilized to assist where needed.
"It is important we support our rural areas," Martinez said. "We will bring whatever resources are necessary to prevent loss of life, protect property and protect livestock."
Governor Martinez thanks all personnel working in this Operation.
“This fire is a threat. The risk is there of crossing the border. We have resources in place,” Martinez said. “This fire is constantly being evaluated, and because it may be unpredictable, we got to be ready.”
“Local residents are advised to listen to news sources and local officials for instructions.”
