#WallowFire - more on Luna, NM evacuation

#WallowFire - more on Luna, NM evacuation

According to Catron County Manager Bill Aymar in Luna, NM at 7:35 PM, the fire has gone north of the village.  There is no imminent danger for Luna; the mandatory evacuation for the west half of Luna was precautionary due to the strong and erratic winds pushing the Wallow Fire.

Note that Luna has been on pre-evacuation status for quite a long time and people have been well-prepared for this evacuation.  Today's evacuation order for the west half of Luna was precautionary while firefighting resources were in place guiding the fire around the village.

Reserve High School has been opened to receive evacuees.   Winds are expected to be stronger and again erratic tomorrow, however because of the fire breaks and other preparation to defend the village of Luna, if the fire continues to go in an easterly direction, Mr. Aymar said that evacuees may be allowed to return to their homes fairly soon.
