#WallowFire Explanation of this morning's briefing map

  • Straight yellow lines divide the fire into zones
  • Solid black lines at fire edge are dozer and hand lines to stop the fire
  • Red lines with hash marks going into the orange = burning, active, hot.  Nothing stopping fire there
  • Branch break and division breaks (below) are used to make assignments.  The size of each section is determined by the fire, difficulty of terrain, etc.
  • [ ] - Branch.  The break between each branch looks like this ][.  Within each branch there are divisions
  • ( ) = Division.  The break between division looks like this )(.  These are the work areas that eventually there a control line will be done with dozer and/or hand teams
  • Black x-x-x-x-x on edge of fire is hand and/or dozer line completed
  • Black - - - - - line to be done that day
