Significant Events: Significant progress in securing impacted communities despite red flag warnings and high winds. Walker's CA Type 2 team shadowing Reinarz SWA Type I team today.
Remarks: Red Flag predicted from 1100 to 2000 tomorrow with significant wind event predicted for Sunday.
Observed Fire Behavior: Moderate fire behavior with isolated torching, smoldering, and interior surface spread.
Planned Actions: Transition with Walker's CA type 2 team tomorrow at 0600. Branch 1 will be transitioned to zone 2. Continue securing impacted communities. Maintain perimeter control by mopping up. Continue hazard tree falling around communities and vital infrastructure. Continue rehab assessment for suppression efforts.

Significant Events: Significant wind pushed fire into the bottom of the Blue River drainage
Remarks: Shadowed Joe Reinarz's team today and on June 18 at 0600 will take control of Zone 1 Branch I, Divs J, K,& L.
Observed Fire Behavior: Continued active fire behavior due to gusty SW winds and dry fuels. Active surface fire with occasional torching and short slope driven runs observed.
Planned Actions: Structure protection, continue to strengthen and secure lines, prepare lines for burnout, construct and plumb hand lines from Strayhorse down to Blue River.

Significant Events: Zone break between Zone 1 and 3 was moved for today's operational period to the junction of the 273 Road and the 87 Road, 4 miles south of Greer. Zone break between Zone 1 and 2 will move north to DP 39 (Branch I and II break) as of 0600 tomorrow, 6/18.
Remarks: Type 1 IH Crews are critical to SWAC. Transfer of command from Reinarz IMT1 to Walker IMT2 is now scheduled to occur at 0600 hrs. tomorrow, Saturday, June 18. Acres burned by ownership are as follows: USFS = 462,672 ac. State of Arizona = 4,209 ac. Private = 6,045 ac. San Carlos Indian Reservation = 9,173 ac. Fort Apache Indian Reservation = 12,917 ac.
Observed Fire Behavior: Active surface fire with occassional single tree and group tree torching and short crown runs where winds and topography align.
Planned Actions: Zone 1 - Transfer of command in Zone 1 from Reinarz IMT1 to Walker IMT2 at 0600 hrs. tomorrow. Command of Branch I will transfer to Zone 2 tomorrow at 0600 hrs. Continue securing communities and mopping up. Zone 2 - Structure protection and line strengthening, preparing for burnout and constructing and plumbing control lines from Strayhorse to Blue River. Zone 3 - Secure Branch XII using aerial and hand ignition in conjunction with air support when weather conditions permit. Elsewhere, patrol, mop-up and rehab. Significant Events: Critical fire weather produced high resistance to control in Branch 12 where the fire is continuing to back down to the indirect firelines. Rehab of dozer lines, handlines, and chipping continued in Branches 10 and 11 with mop-up and patrol ongoing.
Remarks: Injury reported was a respiratory ailment that was transported to the hospital for treatment and observation.
Observed Fire Behavior: Fire was smouldering in Divisions D, C, B and A in unburned islands of fuels. Occasional isolated single and group tree torching occured. In Branch 12 the the fire continued to back downslope through the pines. Where slope, terrain and winds aligned, the fire made uphill runs with torching and spotting.
Planned Actions: Crews will continue to monitor the fire that is backing soutward in Branch 12 to the indirect and secondary containment lines that are in place and being improved. Aerial and hand ignitions of the fuels will be utilized in conjunction with air support as condition permit to secure Branch 12. Elsewhere on Zone 3, crews will continue to patrol and mop-up, rehab dozerlines and handlines and chip slash along the continment and secondary lines.
