Postal Customers Near Wallow Fire Encouraged to Pick Up Mail at Show Low Sc
Information from AZEIN and the US Postal Service ...
(Posted June 8, 2011 at 3:15 p.m.) In response to the Wallow Fire, postal services for customers in Eagar and Springerville will be moved temporarily.
Last week, evacuees in the area were able to pick up their mail at the Eager Post Office, but because of the evacuation of Eagar, postal employees will be located in the auditorium at Whipple Ranch Elementary School, 1350 N. Central Ave. in Show Low, to provide mail pickup service to those impacted by the Wallow Fire.
All postal customers from the communities of Eagar, Springerville, Greer, Alpine, Blue and Nutrioso - whether they receive mail delivery at their home or to a Post Office Box - may obtain their mail at the school until further notice.
Eagar Postmaster Mary Nedrow said customers may pick their mail up from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Customers should bring a picture ID to pick up their mail.
Postage and mailing services will also be available at the Show Low, Pinetop and Lakeside Post Offices for customers wishing to mail cards, letters or packages.
"We appreciate our customers' patience as we relocate these services," Nedrow said. "We want to provide uninterrupted service to our communities as best we can during these difficult conditions."
Customers needing postal services can find locations nearest them by using an interactive map and typing in a ZIP Code. Using a simple icon guide designating stamps, shipping and packaging, PO Boxes and other services, customers can easily navigate to retail outlets, grocery stores, Automated Postal Center (APC) kiosks and Post Offices, among other options.
