#WallowFire: Acreage & comments 06/07/2011 2230 MDT

Date/Time of info:  06/07/2011 2230  MDT
Interpreted Size: 336,187 acres
Growth last period:  24,896 acres
Comments /notes on tonight's mission and this interpretation:

  • Fire was active on all sides with large growth on the north side. Because the interpreter received the imagery so late yesterday, some of the perimeter on the east side was reworked, but it didn't change the original acreage very much. This was especially true along Forest Road 275 near Skunk Flat.
  • Most of the growth on the north was a finger moving NE between Highway 273 and the Little Colorado River. The finger extended to the Forest Boundary as of the time of the imagery.
  • There appeared to be several burnout operations along US 160 South east of Springerville.
  • Several areas along the west side of the fire had large growth with intense heat.
  • The southeast side of the fire was the least active with not as much heat or growth of the perimeter.
