Eagar update from Doyel Shamley 11:15 (NM)

Update for Eagar from Doyel Shamley 11:15 (NM):
  • You can see the glow even though it's daytime - the smoke is acting as a reflector.
  • The meeting was moved to allow fire fighters to have a place to sleep. The command center has been moved to the Springerville School.
  • Embers falling are the diameter of a cigarette - I have seen embers fall in Springerville, though there are no spot fires anywhere I can see or smell. A weather map shows the wind blowing and predicting 30 miles/hour today. The town is very defendable and there are local fire people all over, day and night.
  • All the roads south of Hwy 260 are barricaded.
  • Emergency equipment is now headed very fast into the evacuation zone to the extreme south end, right at the edge of the forest.  The locals are really on top of things.
