Catron County Manager report from Luna, 6:10 PM

Catron County Manager Bill Aymar is still with the fire task force in Luna.  He reports:
  • No fire threat in Luna
  • The Escudilla Bonita subdivision task force has pulled out since the active edges of the fire are now far away.
  • Catron County Fire Marshall Zina McGuire received a phone call saying that Western New Mexico Telephone is giving automatic call forwarding to all residents of Luna who are evacuating (note:  evacuation is still voluntary).  It is not known whether WNMTC is offering the same to Escudilla Bonita, Coyote Creek or other areas, but if you have been evacuated from anywhere in WNMTC territory, you might call the phone company and find out.
  • No area in NM is in imminent danger.
  • There are plenty of fire assets waiting in Luna:  Other Fire Departments include Tempe, Phoenix, Chandler, Sun City West.
  • This is the highest priority fire in US.
