Wallow Fire Update - Catron County Manager

Bill Aymar, Catron County Manager said at 1:20 PM (NM) that the last information he had is that the Wallow Fire was about 1 1/2 miles from NM border.

"This is a very dynamic fire," Aymar said. "Due to the variable winds it does 'finger runs' - narrow strips of fire that might be 100 yards wide.  Because of that we can't say that no fire has crossed into New Mexico, but we can say that  it will be in NM eventually - probably today."

Luna is still on pre-evacuation status.

"There are Catron County assets in Escudilla Bonita subdivision with fire equipment," Aymar said.  "People are moving livestock out right now."
