Wallow Fire - Tuesday morning update

Morning update with info from overnight:

  • Note that InciWeb acreage data is generally 36 hours behind.  For instance, this morning's report says "Size: 233,552 acres (Infrared data as of June 5, 10:09 P.M.)".  This is because of the time between the infrared mapping and the info being processed and available.  We will be doing our best to get you the acreage and leading edge of active fire data to you as soon as we can.
  • A community meeting is being held at the Springerville High School Auditorium, Tuesday, June 7, 6:00p.m. AZ time.  Hopefully it will be available to others streamed on the web.
As of last night, although there has been much inconvenience, there had been very little property loss, no deaths and no fire personnel injuries due to the fire.  Given the size of this fire and the fact that it has been burning for over a week, this is amazing and a testimony to the fire-wise preparedness of the people in the Wallow Fire area and the extraordinary efforts of the fire teams and support people working this fire.  What is even more extraordinary is that many of the people working on this fire are local people who have been evacuated from their homes.  These are dedicated citizens who deserve our thanks and our prayers.

  1. I can't thank you enough for your informative blog at this crucial time. The information provided here has been very helpful for keeping me in the loop with what's going on near my parent's property and their neighbors. My heart and prayers go out all the evacuees and the wonderful fire personal helping to keep the fire at bay. Thank you! :)

  2. Thanks Sarah - we'll keep doing this as long as there is a need. We're all neighbors in this country, no matter where we live.
