Significant Events: Zone 1: Extensive rehabilitation of dozer lines and fire suppression repair work. Zone 2: Resources continued to hold the fire north of Blue Ridge drainage. Resources completed constructing dozer and handline from E. Hwy 191 toward the Primitive Area boundary in the Strayhorse drainage area. Zone 3: Mop up, patrol and rehab.
Remarks: Zone 1: Incident will continue to demobilize excess resources. Lighter winds are allowing firefighters to make good progress with mop-up operations. Zone 2: Contingency planning is in progress to address concerns on the southern portion of the fire. HWY 191 remains closed from Alpine mile marker 176 to north of Clifton mile marker 253. At 0800 hours, June 25th, the evacuation status for the Blue River area will change from mandatory evacuation to area open to residents only. Zone 3: None. Total acreage of 534,639 is distributed by ownership as follows: FS = 501,652; AZ = 4,531; Private = 6,284; San Carlos Indian Reservation = 9,200; White Mountain Apache Indian Reservation = 12,972.
Observed Fire Behavior: Zone 1: Small interior pockets continue to burn out along with smoldering of 1000 hr fuels well within containment lines. Zone 2: Aggressive backing and flanking fire in heavy fuels that produced significant fire behavior with uphill runs and crown fire activity inside control lines on the south perimeter. Zone 3: Smoldering, creeping, and backing.
Planned Actions: Zone 1: Crews will continue to mop up and secure firelines while providing for point protection as needed. Other resources will continue to conduct fire rehabilitation work. Team will continue to plan an incident glide path towards turning the fire over. Zone 2: Structure protection for Alpine, Luna, and Blue River area will continue. Continue construction of indirect line and prepare for burn out east of HWY 191 toward the primitive area boundary in the Strayhorse drainage. Zone 3: Continue mop-up, patrol, and rehab.
