#WallowFire - Catron County manager report 06/22/11 10:51PM
Bill Aymar:

Even though the evacuation order was lifted last night for Luna, I still am concerned. Driving over to the fire camp for a meeting, we saw a pretty impressive smoke cloud in that general direction so I thought we should look and see what's up. Drove up Taylor Creek Road and back there a few miles is a very large area with thousands of burning stumps - it looked like a large version of a 60s rock concert, points of (fire) lights everywhere. That's what's generating all the smoke. I hope the inversion isn't too bad tonight or it's going to be mighty smoky in there by morning.

The night crews were just coming on so we saw quite a few crew vehicles coming up into that area before we left. Driving back to Reserve from Luna we saw quite a few elk and some deer, they all seem to be hanging pretty close to the road, so everybody please be careful.
