Perimeter map from 06/17/11 midnight flyover
Comments from flight report:

  • A general note for the map tonight. Because the fire is cooling down a bit on the north and west sides, more of the isolated heat inside the perimeter is being mapped.
  • The north side continues to cool down. An isolated heat source was found outside the perimeter in Eagar. The spot appeared to be between Dale and Burk Streets at 11th. No other heat was found outside the perimeter. The area arounf Luna Lake on the east side continued to fill in from a burnout. The perimeter was corrected from info from the zone, but not from fire growth.
  • The south end of the fire continues to burn toward the Blue River with intense heat, and in some places rapid growth. The front is closest to the river near Steeple Mesa. Further west the fire has moved into Raspberry Basin, and is near Stray Horse CG. The southwest corner of the fire continues to fill in from a earlier burnout operation in Warren Canyon.
  • The west side of the fire has cooled down quite a bit. Most of the heat on that side is arounf Colter Reservoir. There is still some scattered heat south of Greer along the Little Colorado River.
