WASHINGTON, DC – At 2:00PM ET today, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar and White House Council on Environmental Quality Chair Nancy Sutley will hold a conference call to discuss a proclamation being signed by President Obama later today, designating federal lands within Fort Ord as a national monument under the Antiquities Act. Fort Ord, a former military base located on California’s Central Coast, is a world-class destination for hikers, mountain bikers and outdoor enthusiasts who come to enjoy the area’s military history and scenic landscapes.

The President will sign the declaration at the White House later in the afternoon.
